We have a growing range of supplements in our shop but how do you know which one/s will help you most? This page should make things easier. If you are still confused and unsure what you need, just send us an email to nfcessentials@gmail.com.

If you are starting to try to conceive (ttc) then the general women’s and men’s multi-vitamin & mineral supplement is the place to start. These contain a fertility-focused and well-balanced mix of the most important ingredients your bodies need. You can combine these with the Fish Oils to provide a really solid base-line nutritional support.

If you are in an ‘older’ age bracket - over 35 - then add in the COQ10/antioxidants for both partners. If you have had some tests and the semen analysis is slightly low (we recommend you always get hold of the test results so you can check them for yourselves) then this supplement is the key. The CoQ10 is said to help egg and sperm quality plus it helps to clear up free radicals (things you don’t want hanging around) in your body. It encourages the body to work more efficiently and effectively.

If you are experiencing irregular cycles (ie variations of more than 5 days in cycle length) or have diagnosed PCO/S, then (Glucose Tolerance Factor) Chromium can balance blood sugar and hormone levels. Take for at least three months to start seeing a difference. This product is two month’s worth of tablets in a bottle so is well worth it. You can supplement the Chromium with Kelp which is also useful for PCOS as well as fibroids and sub-clinical hypothyroid (ie if you suspect you have low thyroid function but it is still within the ‘normal range’) because it contains iodine which is vital for thyroid function. If you feel generally cold, fatigued, slugginsh and have problems shifting weight then Kelp is the product for you.

For anyone with period pains or diagnosed Endometriosis, or just clotty and ‘difficult’ periods, Magnesium is excellent at reducing muscle cramping. Researchers have found that any period (ie uterine) pain also causes tightness in the muscles of the abdomen and upper legs which makes everything much worse. Magnesium also helps calm the nervous system and aids sleep. We also recommend taking this supplement for three months to adquately build up levels in the body and see a difference.

For general gut health and for anyone with IBS, irregular bowel movements, food intolerances, bloating, sluggish digestion or poor energy, our probiotics are the place to start. The gut (microbiome) is really the keystone to our general health and poor diet, excess alcohol and wheat/dairy can impede it’s proper function. I recommend taking these a few times per year (and/or especially after antibiotics) just to keep the gut bacteria thriving and to help get your body in better condition for conception and pregnancy.

Vitamin D3 is vital to us northern types - we don’t get enough exposure to the sun, even in the summer months, to ensure enough vitamin D in the body. This supplement is worth taking throughout the Winter, at the very least. I build up with two tablets per day for a few weeks and then reduce to once daily for maintenance. Vitamin D regulates the immune function in the body which is important for conception and continuing a pregnancy. It also helps to supress autoimune conditions which can be implicated in recurrent miscarriage. Vitamin C also helps boost immunity (ie post any illness or infection) as well as improving cardiovascular health and detoxifcation of the liver plus it is vital in collagen production so is good for menopausal symptoms as well as pre-pregnancy.

Hopefully the Pregnancy supplement speaks for itself and the ‘bundles’ are designed to be the optimum combinations of the individual products.
